MRF Ltd rises for third consecutive session.

MRF Ltd is quoting at Rs 54700, up 1.08% on the day as on 12:54 IST on the NSE. The stock is down 32.35% in last one year as compared to a 0.06% spurt in NIFTY and a 34.12% spurt in the Nifty Auto index.

MRF Ltd gained for a third straight session today. The stock is quoting at Rs 54700, up 1.08% on the day as on 12:54 IST on the NSE.The benchmark NIFTY is up around 0.29% on the day, quoting at 11285.15. The Sensex is at 37875.53, up 0.12%. MRF Ltd has slipped around 3.19% in last one month. 

Nifty Auto index of which MRF Ltd is a constituent, has slipped around 10.13% in last one month and is currently quoting at 7010.55, up 2.19% on the day. The volume in the stock stood at 1435 shares today, compared to the daily average of 4769 shares in last one month.

The benchmark August futures contract for the stock is quoting at Rs 54870, up 1.32% on the day. MRF Ltd is down 32.35% in last one year as compared to a 0.06% spurt in NIFTY and a 34.12% spurt in the Nifty Auto index.

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd leads gainers in 'A' group.

Reliance Capital Ltd, KRBL Ltd, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd and Bandhan Bank Ltd are among the other gainers in the BSE's 'A' group today, 25 July 2019.

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd spiked 12.96% to Rs 50.55 at 11:50 IST. The stock was the biggest gainer in the BSE's 'A' group. On the BSE, 32.85 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 39.01 lakh shares in the past one month. 

Reliance Capital Ltd soared 9.42% to Rs 54.6. The stock was the second biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 18.89 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 28.86 lakh shares in the past one month. 

KRBL Ltd surged 6.47% to Rs 254.1. The stock was the third biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 60051 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 54249 shares in the past one month. 

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd advanced 5.95% to Rs 405. The stock was the fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 4.92 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 87798 shares in the past one month. 

Bandhan Bank Ltd jumped 5.12% to Rs 462.15. The stock was the fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. On the BSE, 44256 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 41982 shares in the past one month.

Zee Entertainment gains on strong Q1 performance.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises was up 0.69% to Rs 363.45 at 11:04 IST on the BSE after the company's consolidated net profit rose 62.6% to Rs 530.57 crore on 13.3% increase in net sales to Rs 2008.12 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018.

On the BSE, 3 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 5.31 lakh shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 370.85 and a low of Rs 358.55 so far during the day. It hit a 52-week high of Rs 540.40 on 8 August 2018 and a 52-week low of Rs 288.95 on 25 January 2019. 

Consolidated EBITDA grew by 16.6% to Rs. 659.80 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018. EBITDA margin stood at 32.9%. 

Zee Entertainment Enterprises said that the growth was driven by the strong performance of domestic broadcast and digital businesses.

Consolidated advertising revenue for the quarter was Rs 1186.7 crore, growth of 3.6% YoY. Domestic advertising revenue grew by 4.2% YoY to Rs 1132.2 crore. International advertising revenue for the quarter was Rs 54.5 crore.

Consolidated subscription revenue for the quarter was Rs 708.8 crore, growth of 36.7% YoY. Domestic subscription revenue grew by 46.7% YoY to Rs 624 crore. International subscription revenue was Rs. 84.8 crore.

Punit Goenka, managing director and CEO, ZEEL, commented that ZEEL has delivered another quarter of strong performance despite the operational challenges faced by the industry due to the implementation of TRAI tariff order. The company is confident that the new tariff regime is going to be beneficial for all the stakeholders and will greatly improve the consumer experience.He further added that the company has witnessed a strong uptake of our channels across markets which is reflected in the 47% growth of its domestic subscription revenues.

L&T slips after declaring Q1 result

Larsen & Toubro was down 0.57% to Rs 1,402 at 09:19 IST on the BSE after the company announced its Q1 result after trading hours yesterday, 23 July 2019.

On the BSE, 18,000 shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 2.28 lakh shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 1,420 and a low of Rs 1,395 so far during the day.It hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,606.70 on 28 May 2019 and a 52-week low of Rs 1,183.40 on 23 October 2018.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that consolidated profit after tax (PAT) from continuing operations rose 20.5% to Rs 1361 crore on 10% growth in gross revenue to Rs 29636 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018.The overall PAT, including the PAT from discontinued operations grew by 21.2% to Rs 1473 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018. 

L&T won new orders worth Rs 38700 crore at the group level in Q1 June 2019, registering a growth of 11%. Consolidated order book of the group stood at Rs 294014 crore as at 30 June 2019, with international order book constituting 21% of the total order book. 

L&T said that order wins in infrastructure and power segments were the major contributors to the order inflow during the quarter. While orders from the central and state governments were affected during the general elections, strong PSU and private sector orders enabled growth for the quarter. 

In its outlook, L&T said that the company looks forward to a period of increased investment momentum and continued growth. Initiatives towards improved productivity, cost efficiencies derived from leveraging digital technology, capacity utilization and capability enhancement are expected to help the company maximize its shareholder returns (RoE) on a sustainable basis. 

L&T is an Indian multinational engaged in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services with over $20 billion in revenue.

TVS Motor skids after weak Q1 results.

TVS Motor Company was down 1.01% to Rs 376 at 10:26 IST on the BSE after after net profit fell 2.9% to Rs 142.30 crore on 7.2% rise in net sales to Rs 4468.62 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up by 52.79 points or 0.114% to 38,083.83.

On the BSE, 1.82 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 53000 shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 387.7 and a low of Rs 361.25.The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 604 on 21 September 2018 and a 52-week low of Rs 361.25 on 23 July 2019. 

The company's earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew 10.8% from 321.2 crore in Q1 June 2018 to Rs 355.8 crore in Q1 June 2019. The EBITDA margin increased from 7.7% in Q1 June 2018 to 8% in Q1 June 2019. 

TVS Motor Company's two wheeler sales declined 1% to 8.84 lakh units in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018. The company motorcycle's sales grew 7.8% to 4.17 lakh units in Q1 June 2019 from 3.87 lakh units in Q1 June 2018.Scooter sales of the Company for Q1 June 2019 grew by 2.4% to 2.95 lakh units from 2.88 lakh units in Q1 June 2018. Total three wheelers sales grew by 11.1% to 40,000 units in the Q1 June 2019 from 36,000 units in the Q1 June 2018. 

The total export of the company grew by 10% to 2.09 lakh units in Q1 June 2019 from 1.90 lakh units in the Q1 June 2018.

In a separate announcement, the company announced that TVS Motor (Singapore) Pte, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TVS Motor Company signed definitive agreements to invest $7 million in Scienaptic Systems. 

TVS Motor Company is a leading manufacturer of two wheeler and three wheeler in India.

RIL advances after decent Q1 results.

Reliance Industries rose 0.66% to Rs 1,257.30 at 9:27 IST on BSE after the company's consolidated net profit rose 6.8% to Rs 10,104 crore on a 21.9% surge in net sales to Rs 1,56,976 crore in Q1 July 2019 over Q1 July 2018.

On BSE, 53,000 shares were traded in Reliance Industries counter, compared to a 2-week average of 3.23 lakh shares. The share price hit an intraday high of Rs 1,265.80 and an intraday low of Rs 1,227.60. It hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,417 on 3 May 2019 and a 52-week low of Rs 1,017 on 25 October 2018.

Reliance Industries' consolidated revenue jumped 22.1% to Rs 1,72,956 crore in Q1 July 2019 over Q1 July 2018. The firm's consolidated PBDIT increased by 9.1% to Rs 24,486 crore on a y-o-y basis. The Earnings Per Share (EPS) also moved up by 6.8% to Rs 17.10 in Q1 July 2019 over Q1 July 2018.
The company's telecom arm Reliance Jio reported profit for the seventh quarter in a row. For the June quarter, the firm reported a profit of Rs 891 crore, up 45.6% from year ago.There was strong momentum continuing in the subscriber additions with gross additions of 33.8 million and net addition of 24.5 million. Jio had 331.3 million subscribers as of Jun 2019.

Despite the larger consumer base across tariff plans, customer engagement improved with higher data usage of 11.4 GB per user per month. VoLTE voice consumption per subscriber came in at 821 minutes per month.

Average revenue per user (ARPU) came in at Rs 122 per month in Q1 June 2019 compared with Rs 126.2 per month in Q4 March 2019 and Rs 134.5 per month in Q1 June 2018. ARPU was impacted by subscriber mix, shift to long-term value packs and higher digital recharges (cashbacks).

Jio entered into an agreement with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. and its affiliates for an investment of Rs 25,215 crore into Tower InvIT. Proceeds from the investment by Brookfield and long-term loans will be used to repay existing financial liabilities of RJIPL, including loans extended by Reliance.

RIL's retail arm revenue grew 48% to Rs 38,196 crore. Segment Ebitda grew 70% to Rs 2,049 crore on a yearly basis. Reliance Retail operated 10,644 stores across over 6,700 towns and cities, with an area of 23 million square feet.

RIL's exploration and production business segment revenue decreased 35.5% to Rs 923 crore. Segment EBIT came in at a loss of Rs 249 crore against a loss of Rs 447 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. The segment performance continued to be impacted by declining volume.
RIL's gross refining margin (GRM) came in at $8.1 per barrel. Revenue from the petrochemicals segment stood at Rs 37,611 crore for the June quarter, a dip of 6.64% when compared to Rs 40,287 crore posted in the same quarter last year.

Outstanding debt as on 30 June 2019 was Rs 288,243 crore compared to Rs 287,505 crorea on 31 March 2019. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities as on 30 June 2019 were at Rs 131,710 crore compared to Rs 133,027 crore as on 31 March 2019.These were in bank deposits, mutual funds, CDs, Government Bonds and other marketable securities.

Mukesh D. Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, has said that, "Our first quarter earnings were strong despite weak global macroeconomic environment and challenging hydrocarbon market conditions. Our downstream businesses delivered resilient performance in an environment of slower demand growth and incremental supplies. The performance reflects the benefits of deep refining and petrochemicals integration, chain economics and feedstock flexibility. The company continues to make major strides in its retail and digital services businesses led by focus on growth markets with offerings in the right product segments and compelling value proposition. We are pleased with the robust growth both in revenues and operating income for Reliance Retail. Our digital services business continues to transform the mobility market in India while scaling newer milestones."

Reliance Industries retained its domestic credit ratings of “CRISIL AAA/Stable” from CRISIL, “IND AAA/Stable” from India Ratings, a “Baa2” investment grade rating for its international debt from Moody's and “BBB+” from S&P.

HDFC Bank slides after provisions surge in Q1.

HDFC Bank was down 2.89% to Rs 2307.4 at 10:11 IST on the BSE after the bank's provisions and contingencies jumped 60.41% to Rs 2,613.66 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018.

On the BSE, 52000 shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 2.66 lakh shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 2353.75 and a low of Rs 2301. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 2502.9 on 3 July 2019 and a 52-week low of Rs 1884.40 on 31 October 2018.

HDFC Bank's net profit rose 21.01% to Rs 5568.16 crore on 22.7% rise in total income to Rs 32,361.84 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018. 

The bank's gross non-performing assets (NPAs) stood at Rs 11,768.95 crore as on 30 June 2019 as against Rs 11,224.16 crore as on 31 March 2019 and Rs 9,538.62 crore as on 30 June 2018. 
The ratio of gross NPAs to gross advances stood at 1.40% as on 30 June 2019 as against 1.36% as on 31 March 2019 and 1.33% as on 30 June 2018. 

The ratio of net NPAs to net advances stood at 0.43% as on 30 June 2019 as against 0.39% as on 31 March 2019 and 0.41% as on 30 June 2018. 

Net interest income (interest earned less interest expended) for the quarter ended 30 June 2019 grew by 22.9% to 13,294.3 crore from Rs 10,813.6 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2018, driven by asset growth and a core net interest margin for the quarter of 4.3%. 

Other income (non-interest revenue) at Rs 4,970.3 crore was 27.2% of the net revenues for the quarter ended 30 June 2019 and grew by 30.2% over Rs 3,818.1 crore in the corresponding quarter ended 30 June 2018. 

CASA deposits grew by 12.8% with savings account deposits at Rs 253,338 crore and current account deposits at Rs 125,663 crore. Time deposits were at Rs 575,553 crore, an increase of 22.5% over the previous year, resulting in CASA deposits comprising 39.7% of total deposits as of 30 June 2019. 
Total deposits as of 30 June 2019 were Rs 954,554 crore, an increase of 18.5% over 30 June 2018. Total advances as of 30 June 2019 were Rs 829,730 crore, an increase of 17.1% over 30 June 2018
The bank has announced a special interim dividend of Rs 5 in commemoration of 25 years of the Bank's operations. The record date for the dividend is 2 August 2019. 

The bank's board has fixed 20 September 2019 as the record date for the purpose of ascertaining the entitlement of shareholders pursuant to sub-division of one equity share of face value of Rs 2 each into two equity shares of face value of Rs 1 each, which was approved by the shareholders of the Bank at its Annual General Meeting held on 12 July 2019.
